My Career is for ME to know, Not YOURS.
With the recent
NCAE or the National Career Assessment Examination whereas the Department of
Education is giving a national examination to the juniors around the
Philippines just to tell what career they could possibly take. For me,
seriously, I think it’s only a waste of time and effort to me because I already
have made up my mind on what career I would take so why would I take this test
in the first place. And this simply takes away our liberty in what to take. If one
student has chosen to be a doctor and he himself knows that it’s the career he
is destined or the real job best fitted for him and yet the test made him take law
and he thinks it’s best to take the what the assessment test told him to take,
isn’t that unfair and unreasonable. It’s not that I despise the concept of giving
student assessment on what job they should take even though they know what is
job is best for them. Yet since not everyone has chosen a preferred course to
take after high school so maybe it has some benefits. But how sure is this test
to tell what career if fit to be given to a student. And how sure is this test that the student
would follow the assessment, what if the students choose a different career, a
different path. There is also no certainty that the assessment would be
followed by the student. Well since I’ve decided what profession I would want
to take, so the NCAE is not that important to me, but to others it could be. So
to me the NCAE is not important but only a waste of time and effort.
